Travel Log: Pisa, Italy

After Monaco, we spent half a day in Pisa, Italy. Since we were only spending a few hours here and the rest of the day in Florence, we chose to do a tour of the Tower of Pisa. The tower is a freestanding bell tower and is part of the city's Piazza del Duomo. The Piazza del Duomo houses the Duomo (the Cathedral), the Baptistry (the building with the dome) and the Camposanto Monumentale (the monumental cemetery). The tower is made of white marble and I was surprised at how clean it was for an old structure. The inside of the Cathedral was also a site to see. The Baptistry is the largest in Italy although the interior lacks any ornate decoration. I recommend coming to this site as it's only an hour away from Florence.
